Intro Seminar Overview

Clinical Application to TCVM and Integrative Medicine is an introductory seminar which covers the Fundamental Principles of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) and the two major branches of TCVM: Veterinary Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. These seminars take place throughout the year in multiple locations. Seminars are available in-person for the small animal track and online for the equine track for a total of up to 14 RACE-approved CE hours.

Goals

These seminars are not only valuable for veterinarians new to integrative veterinary medicine modalities, but can be a refresher course for those who may have studied it years ago. With these seminars participants will be able to:

  • Learn clinical tips and applications for veterinary acupuncture.
  • Evaluate the fundamental principles of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) including Yin-Yang and Five Elements.
  • Understand how to use Veterinary Acupuncture for pain management in dogs

Instructors

Dr. Emily Mangan received her Honors Bachelor of Science and DVM from Oregon State University in 2015 and 2019, respectively. Dr Mangan is certified in veterinary acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, and Tui-na from Chi University, Florida, USA. She is also certified in veterinary medical manipulation from the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute, Florida, USA. She completed an equine rotating internship at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and recently completed an Integrative Medicine Internship at the University of Florida.

Dr. Allison Faber Marshall graduated from University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995 and moved to Virginia into general equine practice. She opened Full Circle Veterinary Services, PC in 2005 after becoming a Certified Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (CVSMT) through Healing Oasis Wellness Center and a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) through Chi University where she also trained in veterinary herbal medicine, food therapy, and tui-na, culminating in completion of a Master’s of Science in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Marshall served on the AAEP ethics committee from 2010-2013. She has been an instructor at Chi since 2010. Her busy practice is limited to equine alternative therapies in Virginia and Maryland, and she enjoys a large variety of sport horses and beloved friend as patients. She has 3 grown children, and is an avid surfer, knitter, yarn spinner, gardener, and works to keep her many interests and profession in balance.
